Greetings all,
There is a new study out of Finland that found that one can potentially lower their risk of stroke by 61% if they regularly take saunas.
See the article here: https://www.afp.com/en/news/205/frequent-sauna-use-may-cut-stroke-risk-study-doc-14i12v1#.Wuq-WfOSrrE.mailto
Coming at the cardiovascular problem from two additional relatively far simpler angles, is another study out of Finland done between 1976 and 2000, involving the entire Finnish population wherein they changed the typical salt used in the country from the traditional sodium chloride to a combination product which contained magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, some lysine and some sodium chloride. This together with a recommendation of following a lower fat diet led to a direct 45 to 50% decrease risk of death from cardiovascular disease, despite their being during the study period, and increase of smoking, obesity and alcohol usage. Average life expectancy also increased 6 to 8 years.
And yet one more very important item to do to significantly reduce your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke, is to donate blood once or twice a year. The exact frequency of ideal donations can be determined by a simple blood test, wherein you target your hematocrit, (the ratio of the volume of red blood cells to the total volume of blood), with your doctors approval, to be between 40 and 43%. Blood donors according to one study of males and females, had a 45% decrease of cardiovascular disease (ie heart attacks and strokes) and according to another study which only involved males, showed an 88% decrease in cardiovascular disease.

With regard to utilizing a sauna to improve your health, I have been attending a number of seminars in recent years dealing with the topic of toxic metal (lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum to name the major players) accumulation as well as toxic chemical accumulation and how to determine your bodies load and how to deal with the problem if you have it. To start, we all have it. The question is whether or not it is significantly effecting our health. If you have a chronic health condition, they should be items high on your list of things to look at. This can be done with a hair or provoked urine analysis for toxic metals and via a urine Organic Acids Test (OAT’s) and related GPL-Tox for a look at your toxic chemical burden.

Of significance in terms of how you deal with it, one of the main answers from most all sources holistically minded, is through regular use of a sauna.
And now you know the rest of the story.
