- Avoid or minimize exposure to carcinogens (Trans fatty acids, hydrogenated oils, rancid fats, deep fried, grilled meats + reduce exposure to high glycemic foods, white sugar, white flour, artificial colors, dyes, etc.). Cancer cells love sugar so avoid its usage.
- Eat a well balanced organic whole food unprocessed/minimally processed low glycemic diet with many colors for best food based antioxidant/flavonoid exposure. Eat from the rainbow. Stay away from canned and packaged foods.
- Do not eat any farmed fish. Limit red meat or pork to occasional use, certainly not more than once per week (organic grass fed beef preferred). Use chicken, turkey (organic) & wild fish for protein. Avoid all processed meat like salami, bacon, hot dogs etc.
- Balance protein, fat and carbohydrates from organic whole foods. Eat cold water fish. Use olive, grape seed and/or coconut oil. Avoid corn, soy, canola oil.
- Drink clean water. Don’t overlook the importance of being well hydrated with clean water. It makes everything function better. Also use a charcoal filter on your shower, available at Home Depot and replace it every 6 months.
- Work towards 40-50 grams of fiber intake per day. Fiber reduces the risk of colon cancer, but also does so many other things: bowel movement regulation, toxin clearance, flora and fatty acid regulation, hormone and cholesterol clearance. Fiber also helps balance your blood sugar and can assist with weight loss.
- Get some unprocessed “raw” foods every day. Fresh fruit, veggies, sprouts are good candidates.
- Eat lycopenes/cartenoids – tomatoes and other ‘red’ fruits/veggies.
- Eat cruciferous vegetables – broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage, asparagus
- Eat fermented foods cabbage, kefir, yogurt, low fat/skim cheese, miso, tempeh, pickles, and vinegar.

- Exercise moderately on a regular basis. Vary the exercise from aerobic to weights to walk/run cycle, etc. Have fun with it and make it part of your lifestyle. Use your morning on waking pulse to determine tolerance of recovery time. Which exercise is best for you? The one you will do! Start with a small dose that you will do and work up to one hour per day. Added benefits are improving your mood, sex life and weight.
- Get regular daily exposure to sun to enhance Vitamin D and melatonin production.
Protect skin with antioxidant sunscreen after 15 minutes of unprotected exposure. Get your blood vitamin D3 level checked and use supplemental support if it is not at least 50 ng/ml. Ideally it should be between 60-80 ng/ml.
- Wear sunglasses hat protect eyes from UVA/B/C induced solar damage. Expose eyes indirectly (unprotected) to sunrise and sunset rays to enhance circadian rhythm regulation and allow beneficial full spectrum exposure.
- Decompress. Let go of emotional garbage. Forgive. Use of prayer and/or meditation can be helpful. Get rid of or significantly decrease the stressful things in your life. Express yourself. Do not hold in your emotions. Reduce stress by exercising, meditation, music, gardening, tai chi, etc.
- Get a pet! Animals give love unconditionally and can be a great loyal companion. Many studies show that people with pets tend to be happier, healthier and live longer.
